The Living Desert strives to maintain the desert’s ecosystem, and with contributions over the years have built up their nature reserve to have over 1200 acres in use at their park. Another 1000 acres have been left untouched, but may be developed over time.

The animal selection on the grounds is substantial and includes wildlife from all over the globe. They have reptiles, mammals, birds, and amphibians that originate from Asia, Africa, North America, and Australia. One of the most amazing displays is the Gardens the Living Desert has to offer. It shows how diverse plants can be, and survive some of the harshest, hottest, driest conditions the desert can throw at them. They have an amazing 1400 different specimens in the garden and many gardens within the premises itself. They are divided into different category and groups. As you walk through the place, you will have educational points that will teach you about different plants and how they respond to the climates and what they are known for.

The Living Desert Zoo and Gardens are open all year long, and you are encouraged to get there first before it gets too hot. It is true during the summer season.
